Mekai Matthew Curtis (born October 14, 2000) is an American actor, voice actor, and musician. He is best known for his role as Kanan Stark in the Starz original crime drama "Power Book III: Raising Kanan.":[1]
Early Life[edit]
Curtis was born and raised in New Jersey, showing an early interest in acting and music.[2]
Career[edit]
Curtis began his acting career with a guest role in "Arrested Development" (2013). He gained recognition for his roles in "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" (2014). His breakthrough came with the role of Kanan Stark in "Power Book III: Raising Kanan," a prequel to the series "Power." [3] [4] [5] [6]. In this role, Curtis portrays the younger version of the character originally played by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. In an interview with People Magazine, Curtis discussed how he has taken significant control over his character's development with the support of 50 Cent, the executive producer. [1]
Personal Life[edit]
He is the son of Hadassah and Paul Curtis, with four siblings: Kaidynce, Kezii, Zemyhe, and Jesigh. [2] Curtis is also passionate about music, particularly drumming, which he often shares on social media. [2]
