Melisa Ercan (born 1 September 2005)[1] is a Turkish-Australian tennis player with a career high ranking of no. 510 achieved on 4 December 2023.[2][3]

Early life[edit]

Originally from Turkey, Ercan received Australian citizenship in 2023. She and her family live in Brisbane.[4]

Career[edit]

Junior career[edit]

Ercan won her first J2-ITF tournament at the 38th Salsomaggiore-J2 tournament held in Italy in August 2021.[5][6] She later defeated Mirra Andreeva to win a J300 Traralgon Tournament held in Australia in January 2023.[7][8]

Senior career[edit]

Ercan won four ITF singles titles in 2023, including a run of 20 consecutive victories.[9]

She received a wildcard into the women's qualifying draw at the 2024 Australian Open in January 2024.[10] In her debut grand slam she defeated higher ranked British player Lily Miyazaki in the first qualifying round.[11]

On 27 February 2024, she defeated higher ranked British player Katie Swan at the W25 event in Traralgon.
