Miu festival of Khiamniungans of Noklak district, India is observed on the 5th of May every year with great pomp and gaiety.[1] It involves prayer at the time of sowing[2] of seeds, rituals, and ceremonies to appease the gods for the protection of crops.[3]
History of festival[edit]
This festival reaffirms the bond shared by maternal uncles and the niece and nephews through prayers and feasting together.[4] It includes merrymaking, holistic rituals and community feast. [5]
Significance[edit]
This festival revolves around sharing of household equipments between maternal family knit and denounce wrongdoings and embrace forgive and forget for future co-existence.[6]
