Draft:Nautilus (Interconnector)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nautilus interconnector is a proposed interconnector between the UK and Belgium, which will connect to offshore wind farms. Its proposed capacity is 1,400MW, making it the same size as Viking Link or the North Sea Link. Power flows would be more volatile, as opposed to current normal practice where power flows are guaranteed using day-ahead pricing, since power from the proposed wind farms would be uncontrollable.[1]

Landfall and Impact[edit]

The interconnector's landfall location is so far TBD, with the connections most likely on the UK side being the Isle of Grain or Friston, Suffolk.[2] Public consultations have been carried out (summary), with the 69% of people of respondents in favour of multi-purpose interconnectors (MPIs), such as Nautilus.[3]
