Nikolay Atanasov (born February 22, 2000) is a Bulgarian musician, best known as a former lead guitarist in American speed metal band Agent Steel and current lead guitarist in German thrash metal band Rezet.[1]
Biography[edit]
Early days[edit]
Atanasov started playing the guitar at eleven or twelve years old. Progressing quickly at the instrument he started forming and joining bands. One of his early bands he founded was Steel Rider. Some of his early influences were Tony Iommi, Randy Rhoads, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dave Murray and Marty Friedman.[1]
Prophecy (2016–2019)[edit]
In 2015 Atanasov moved to Denmark with his family. There he founded the thrash metal band Prophecy, which released two records in 2018 and 2019.[1]
Agent Steel (2019–2022)[edit]
In 2019 he joined American speed metal band Agent Steel.[2] In 2021, the album No Other Godz Before Me was released. Atanasov was the main songwriter for the record and was praised for his soloing.[3][4][5][6][7] He left the band in 2022.[1] In 2023 he performed with Agent Steel on the band's Scandinavian and European tours.[8][9]
Rezet (2023 - present)[edit]
In February 2023, Atanasov was announced as the new lead guitarist for German thrash metal band Rezet. The band has since announced they are working on a new record.[10]
