The Nur Navoi solar farm (Uzbek: Navoiy Nur quyosh elektr stansiyasi) is a solar power plant located in Karmana District of Navoiy Region, Uzbekistan. It covers an area of 283 hectare and has a total installed capacity of 100 megawatts (MW), making it first solar park in Uzbekistan. The park was developed in three phases since 2019, with $110 million in funding from Masdar, UAE government company. The park contributes to Uzbekistan's renewable energy goals and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 150 thousand tons per year.[1].
Nur Navoi is Uzbekistan’s first utility-scale and first successfully-financed independent power producer solar project[1]. Owner and operator of the park, Masdar commits to supply electricity for 25 years at 2.679 cents per kilowatt-hour.
In October 2019, the Ministry of Energy announced the results of the tender for the construction of a SPP with a capacity of 100 MW in the Navoi region[2]. 5 companies in the tender - "ACWA Power" (Saudi Arabia), "Jinko Power" and "Aljoimah Energy & Water Consortium" (China / Saudi Arabia), "Masdar" (UAE), "TBEA Xinjianing Sunoasis Co Ltd" (China) and "Total Eren" (France) passed the pre-qualification stage of the tender. The tender was won by the UAE company Masdar with the lowest price[2].
In November 2019, the "Electricity Purchase Agreement" and "Investment Agreement" agreements were signed between the Masdar company and the Government of Uzbekistan in order to design, finance and build a solar park on the basis of public-private partnership.
On August 22, 2021, the first generating capacity of the Navoi Nur SPP was connected to the unified system of the republic[3].
On August 27, 2021, during the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Navoiy Region, the photoelectric plant was officially launched[3]
