Nusa Putra University (NPU), also known as Universitas Nusa Putra, is a private university located in Sukabumi, West Java, under the auspices of the Nusa Putra Sukabumi Educational Foundation.[1] As of 2023, Nusa Putra University comprises two faculties: the Faculty of Business and Humanities. Which oversees four academic programs including Bachelor's degrees in Management, Law, Accounting, and Elementary Teacher Education; and the Faculty of Engineering, Computer Science, and Design. which encompasses Bachelor's programs in Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Visual Communication Design, a Master's program in Computer Science, and Diploma programs in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

The idea of establishing Nusa Putra as an educational institution began in 2002 with the establishment of an Internet cafe, known as "Warnet" or Internet kiosk. This facility aimed to facilitate students and residents of Sukabumi in accessing information, and it was followed by the establishment of the Nusa Putra Education and Training Institute (LP2NSP) in the same year, focusing on computer education and training. In 2004, the official establishment of the Nusa Putra Sukabumi Educational Foundation took place, followed by the creation of the Nusa Putra Informatics Education Institute (LPI NSP). Since then, Nusa Putra has continued to grow, leading to the establishment of Nusa Putra Institute of Technology (STT Nusa Putra) in 2007 with four Bachelor's programs: Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, and Systems Engineering, along with two Diploma programs: Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Engineering.[2]

Eleven years later, in 2018, Nusa Putra University was founded as a transformation from STT Nusa Putra. This transformation was officially determined by the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education through Decree No. 108/KPT/I/2018, granting permission for the transformation of Nusa Putra Institute of Technology in Sukabumi into Nusa Putra University. The university expanded its academic offerings by adding six Bachelor's programs: Management, Law, Accounting, Elementary School Teacher Education, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. In 2019, a Master's program in Computer Science was also established.[3]

As a higher education institution, Nusa Putra University adheres to the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education) based on prevailing regulations and is oriented towards the educational policy direction issued by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia.[4] Additionally, in the context of institutional development, Nusa Putra University follows the policies and regulations set by the Nusa Putra Educational Foundation. The primary policy direction involves comprehensive international programs covering both academic and non-academic aspects. This commitment is manifested through the opening of international classes and the admission of foreign students in all programs. As of 2023, there are a total of 230 foreign students from 38 countries, including Armenia, France, Yemen, Palestine, Myanmar, and others.[5]

The Nusa Putra Trilogy[edit]

Nusa Putra University upholds noble values, which also serve as a manifesto in its pursuit of vision and mission. These values are referred to as the Nusa Putra Trilogy and are to be highly esteemed, integrated into the lives of all individuals associated with Nusa Putra.[6] The values are as follows:

1. Amor Deus or Divine Love

This value signifies that as recipients of divine light, individuals at Nusa Putra must adhere to religious teachings. Religion, for those at Nusa Putra, is considered a necessity and an expression of love for God, rather than merely an obligation.

2. Amor Parentium or Love for Parents

As the strength of Nusa Putra individuals to uphold the teachings and noble values of prophets, ancestors, parents, teachers, and righteous individuals from the past.

3. Amor Concervis or Love for Fellow Beings

This value binds Nusa Putra individuals to live peacefully alongside others, embracing differences in their approach to every diversity. It is acknowledged that differences exist by the will of God, and thus, they should be approached with love and understanding.
