Parthip Thyagarajan
Parthip Thyagarajan (born 1973) is an Indian entrepreneur best known as the co-founder and CEO[1] of WeddingSutra.com, an online platform dedicated to wedding planning and related services.[2][3]
Early Life[edit]
Parthip Thyagarajan was born on April 25, 1973, in Jhansi, India. Originating from a Tamil Brahmin family, his roots trace back to Ettayapuram in the Tirunelveli district. Parthip is the grandson of the late Sri S. A. Ayer, a distinguished freedom fighter, author of Unto him a Witness (the biography of Subhash Chandra Bose), and Story of The INA. His father served as a Brigadier in the Indian Army, and his mother was a history teacher at the JB Petit School for Girls in Mumbai. Due to his father's military career, Parthip attended nearly 10 different schools, predominantly located in army cantonments. In 1987, his family relocated to Mumbai, where he completed his education at Campion School and the Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics.
Career[edit]
Parthip's career began during his time at Sydenham College, inspired by a chance encounter with author and writer Rashmi Bansal. This meeting spurred his interest in writing, leading to his first publication in NG (New Generation), a youth supplement by the now-defunct Sunday Observer. As a youth journalist, he authored approximately 100 articles for various publications, including The Sunday Observer, The Times of India, and The Independent. After earning his MBA from the Management Development Institute (MDI) in Gurgaon in 1996, Parthip joined The Times of India Group as a Management Trainee. He eventually rose to the position of Assistant Marketing Manager before co-founding WeddingSutra in 2000.[4]
Professional Career[edit]
The inception of WeddingSutra.com was a culmination of Parthip's curiosity about business operations and a desire to delve into the wedding industry. A pivotal discussion with B-School friend Madhulika Mathur highlighted the potential in wedding planning and related content, sparking the launch of WeddingSutra.
Personal Life[edit]
Parthip resides in Navi Mumbai. He holds Indian nationality.
