Perry Huang is an assistant coach for Seattle Storm in the WNBA and for the Birmingham Squadron of the NBA G-League.[1][2] Huang was a member of the coaching staff during the 2020 WNBA season, when the Seattle Storm won the title in Florida.
College career[edit]
Huang attended Fresno Pacific University from 2005 to 2009 and was a member of the men's basketball program.[3] He graduated with a degree in accounting, and then came back for a master's degree in kinesiology and sports administration.[4]
Coaching career[edit]
Cal State San Marcos & Monterey Peninsula College[edit]
Huang spent four total years at the collegiate level being an assistant coach for both Cal State San Marcos and Monterey Peninsula College's men's basketball programs.[5]
Northern Arizona Suns[edit]
Huang joined the coaching staff with the Northern Arizona Suns for the 2018–2019 season. Huang made his way back to the NBA G League, as he was a coaching associate for the Santa Cruz Warriors during the 2015–16 season, where he worked with fellow assistant James Andrisevic.[6]
Seattle Storm[edit]
Huang first joined the Storm as Video Coordinator prior to the 2018 season. During that season, the Storm ended up winning the 2018 WNBA Championship. Huang worked as the Video Coordinator for Seattle for three season. Huang got more responsibility during the 2020 season, when the Storm were in Florida inside the WNBA Bubble. Head Coach Dan Hughes decided not to come due to health reasons, so Huang went to Florida and helped out.[7]
When Noelle Quinn was named the head coach of the Storm in May of the 2021 season, Huang was promoted to assistant coach, and was retained for the 2022 season when Quinn revamped her entire staff.[8]
Erie Bayhawks/Birmingham Squadron[edit]
Huang became an assistant coach for the Bayhawks and Squadron during the off-season of the WNBA. When the Bayhawks relocated to Birmingham, Huang was again retained on staff by new head coach T.J. Saint.[9] At the beginning of the 2022–23 season for the Squadron, Huang was in his fourth season with the organization.[10]
