Syed Hamid Qasim Jalali is a small screen drama Director of Pakistan and recipient of Pride of Performance Award (Highest Presidential Award of Pakistan for Excellence in Performance, category: Art & Drama)[1]. He served Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) from 1970 to 2008 and retired as General Manager of PTV Karachi. After his retirement from PTV, he served ARY Digital TV[2] as Head of QTV and organisation advisor (2008 - 2012). He produced 3,500 dramas in Urdu language, among these the most exemplary are Khuda ki Basti[3][4](re-directed on request of the then Prime Minister, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto), Shama[5], Aakhri Chattan, Uroosa (also spelled as Aroosa)[6], Labbaik Muhammad Bin Qasim[7], Abla Paa, Eid Train[8], Tipu Sultan, Yes Sir No Sir, Waqt ka Aasman, Kali Deemak, Nishan-e-Haider [9](Major Mohammad Tufail Shaheed) and various other scientific dramas. His acting skills were recognised and appreciated worldwide in drama serial Ba Adab Ba Mulahiza Hoshiyaar, in which he performed the role of a notorious king.[citation needed]

He started professional career as a drama artist (Taleem-e-Balighan, 1970). Soon he joined Pakistan Television (PTV) as a drama director/producer and later worked as Executive Producer, Program Manager, General Major of PTV National. Qasim Jalali is a specialist in historic and scientific dramas of his time. He has been awarded several national and international honours in recognition of his work. He was the chairman of Pakistan Arts Council till 2005.[citation needed]
