Rahma Zein is an Egyptian journalist known for her viral confrontation with Clarissa Ward, the chief International correspondent for CNN, at the Rafah Border Crossing on October 20, 2024 [1] [2]. She accused Ward of biased reporting that she believed was fueling the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Career[edit]
Zein previously worked as a field reporter for the Egyptian State Television News Department and the privately owned Egyptian channel CBC. She also served as an editor in chief for an online magazine.
Family[edit]
Zein comes from a prominent Egyptian media family. Her grandfather, Mohamed Mohsen, was the Editor in Chief of Al Gomhuria[3] during President Anwar Al Sadat’s rule, and her grandmother, Hend Abu El Seoud, held the position of Vice President of Egyptian State Television [4]. Her mother was a reporter who interviewed notable figures such as American President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
