Ranjan Kumara Seneviratne is a Sri Lankan politician and lawyer. He is the current General Secretary of the Mawbima Janatha Party,[1] which is led by entrepreneur Dilith Jayaweera. His political interests lie in fostering entrepreneurship though conducive legal and fiscal frameworks. As a corporate lawyer, he has worked both in his home country Sri Lanka and in the United Kingdom. His business experience includes a stint heading Legal and Corporate affairs at a blue chip multinational, listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

Career[edit]

Seneviratne’s journey as a legal professional saw him initially serving as an in-house counsel at one of Sri Lanka’s premier corporate law firms. Following his relocation to London and admission as a Solicitor, he gained valuable experience at a prominent law firm in the city over a span of two years. Subsequently, he transitioned to a role as an in-house counsel at a multinational corporation (MNC) headquartered in the United Kingdom. Within the MNC, he played a pivotal role as a key member of the top team within its Sri Lankan subsidiary. Seneviratne also held the position of Senior Legal Counsel for the MNC's operations in Singapore. In 2019, leveraging his extensive experience and expertise, he co-founded the law firm "Valorem Juris" [2][failed verification] alongside two senior legal practitioners. Valorem Juris is a boutique law firm specialized in advising and representing clients involved in significant infrastructure projects and various commercial transactions. Seneviratne is known for his advisory services related to anti-corruption and sanctions compliance across regulatory frameworks in the United States, United Kingdom, and the European Union [3] .

Affiliations[edit]

He is a founding member and executive committee member of Aramuna, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship within communities.

He is also a founding member of the Offshore Wind Power Association, an association active in advancing renewable energy solutions in Sri Lanka. Through his involvement in this association, he contributes to the promotion and development of offshore wind power projects, aligning with his environmental advocacy efforts.
