Razaq Obe

Rasaq Obe is a Nigerian engineer, energy expert, and public servant. He currently serves as the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources for the Ondo State Government.[1] He is known for his advocacy for clean energy and his experience in the oil and gas industry.[2]

Early life and education

Obe was born in Ilara Mokin, Ifedore,Ondo State Nigeria on February 17, 1976. He attended the University of Benin, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering. He later earned a Master of Science degree in Project Management (Oil & Gas) from the University of Liverpool. He is also an accredited mediator, having received training from the London School of Mediation.[3]

Career Obe began his career in the oil and gas industry, working for companies such as ExxonMobil and the Nigerian Gas Company. He held various positions, including contract manager, senior procurement advisor, and chairman of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) branch at ExxonMobil.[4] In December 2021, Obe was appointed Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources for the Ondo State Government. In this role, he has been responsible for overseeing the state's energy sector, including the development of renewable energy projects and the promotion of energy efficiency.[5]
