Ricardo Widmaïer was a radio and film pioneer in Haiti. An immigrant from Germany he set up a radio station.[1] His son Herby Widmaïer established Radio Métropole in 1970 and was a leading figure in the "modern" Haitian music scene.[1]

He established the first commercial radio station in Haiti in 1935.[2] He made newsreels.

The station he established, HH3W, became Radio Haiti.[3]
