Piggy is a survival horror game created by MiniToon, IK3As, and Optikk. After the intermission is over, players are given the choice to vote on 12 different maps. Once the most voted map wins, players can vote for one of the modes available. Only 6 out of the 7 modes will be shown, as they change after every round. In the most basic game modes, survivors need to escape the map by using different keys and tools, while the Piggy has the objective of finding and killing all of the survivors.

The game can be credited for inspiring the creation of numerous character-themed survival horror games, often with very similar mechanics and objectives. It was originally based on the British children's show Peppa Pig, as well as the horror game Granny. However, after fear for a copyright strike to Piggy from the Peppa Pig show, MiniToon had to remodel almost all of the characters in order to protect his game from being taken down.

In commemoration of the game surpassing 200,000 concurrent players, Piggy but it's 100 Players was released in the same month. On September 12, 2020, a sequel to Piggy known as Piggy: Book 2 was released, which would be updated overtime to include 15 more chapters.

On October 24, 2021, the final chapter of Book 2 was released, ending the game's main storyline. On November 24, 2022, MiniToon announced that Piggy would no longer be receiving updates. This is excluding Build Mode, bug fixes, and the upcoming game, Piggy: Intercity.

Game modes[edit]

Game modes are the different ways a Piggy round can be played. The current game modes available are Player, Bot, Player + Bot, Infection, Traitor, Swarm and Tag.

Bot[edit]

In the Bot gamemode, the "player" controlling Piggy is controlled via AI. They have a map-specific skin.

Player[edit]

In the Player gamemode, a random player is chosen to be Piggy, with the proper skin applied, and the other players are survivors.

Player + Bot[edit]

In the Player + Bot gamemode, it is a mix of the Player and Bot game modes, respectively: a player's chosen as Piggy, and they are accompanied by a bot as well.

Infection[edit]

In the Infection gamemode, a player is randomly selected as Piggy. The twist is that when Piggy catches someone, they turn into a Piggy themselves, and have to infect the remaining survivors. The Piggies win if all survivors are infected or time runs out.

Traitor[edit]

In the Traitor gamemode, Piggy is a bot, and a random player becomes the Traitor. Similarly to Piggy's role, the Traitor needs to kill all Survivors, but Traitors have to not get caught, because if a Survivor has a loaded gun, a Survivor can shoot the Traitor, and they will die instead of being stunned. They can also die to Piggy if they're not careful. If a player is shot and is not the traitor, they will become a Piggy.

Swarm[edit]

In the Swarm gamemode, starting when the Piggy spawns at 9:30. Every minute after 9:30 a new Piggy will spawn, and will cap once there are 9 bots.

Tag[edit]

In the Tag gamemode, when the timer reaches 9:30 all but one of the survivors will turn into a crawling Piggy. If the survivor is caught by one of the Piggies, they will be turned into a Piggy, and the tagger will turn into a survivor. The objective of the survivors is to escape the map while not being tagged by the Piggy.

Items[edit]

Items are objects and tools that a player can carry around and use. They can be found throughout the map. Players can only carry one item at a time. If a player tries to grab another item while already carrying one, the player will swap the item they are currently holding in their inventory with the new one. If a player dies while carrying an item; the item will then be taken from their inventory and placed in its original spawn point. This causes items to overlap in the same spot.

There are several types of items. Most are used to unlock doors, clear obstacles or open the exit, such as colored keys, colored keycards, the wrench, etc. Some items are used as methods to stun the Piggy, such the pistol and its ammunition, and the crossbow and its carrot ammunition. Other items can only be given to friendly NPCs for them to unlock certain part of the map or to stun the Piggy, such as carrots, grass and apples. The knife is a special item that is only given to the traitor in the Traitor gamemode, and is used to kill others. Unlike every other item, the knife is placed in the player's inventory and cannot be swapped or removed.

Criticism[edit]

The game itself was criticized for winning the 8th Bloxys award for Game of the Year and also the Builderman Award of Excellence, leading the game itself to be mass disliked by many people, commonly from the Royale High and Adopt Me! fanbase. This mass dislike was seen in the Piggy Twitter account Piggy News' post.
