Ah! There you are, traveler! Come inside. Hang up your coat. Put your feet by the fire. And I shall bring you what you most desperately seek... Rude Tales... of Magic.

Rude Tales of Magic[1] is an actual play Dungeons & Dragons comedy podcast.

Description[edit]

Rude Tales of Magic is an improvisational comedy podcast, run by Branson Reese, sponsored by Taylor Moore at Fortunate Horse and presented as a continuous series of role-playing sessions loosely inspired by the fifth edition version of Dungeons & Dragons. The inaugural episode was released on September 24th, 2019.

Plot[edit]

The campaign takes place in the world of Cordelia, at Polaris University in the last week before the spring semester finals[2]. Five extremely lucky students barely make it out alive after their school suddenly disappears in an unfortunate accident. They must rewrite what they have done, all while traversing the drama of their shattered lives.

Cast[edit]

Actual play podcasts all have players to roleplay the campaign, as well as a gamemaster (or dungeon master) to tell the story and very loosely regulate the player's actions. There are also NPCs (non player characters) played by the gamemaster and guest players in various episodes. Rude Tales of Magic, as an actual play podcast, has a dungeon master (Branson Reese) and 5 players[3], each roleplaying a different character who attends the university in the campaign.
