The STEM Early College at NC A&T[edit]

The STEM Early College at NC A&T State University (STEM) is a secondary school in North Carolina. It has approximately 200 students and is located in Greensboro, North Carolina. The school was started in 2012 as a partnership between North Carolina A&T and Guilford County Schools as the second early college high school in Greensboro, second only to the Early College at Guilford. allowing students to graduate with a high school diploma and up to two years of college credit from A&T.

The cost of tuition for all A&T courses is covered by both Guilford County Schools and the state of North Carolina via funding through the Innovative Education Initiatives Act.

Admissions Criteria[edit]

It varies each year, however for the class of the 2028, the following was mandated. Exceptions are sometimes made, but usually, students who don't meet all of the following will not receive an interview or essay.

  • 80th Percentile on the Grade 7 NC Language Arts End-Of-Grade Test
  • 80th Percentile on the Grade 7 NC Mathematics End-Of-Grade Test OR 80th Percentile on the NC Math 1 End-Of-Course Test
  • 3.5 Unweighted GPA throughout Grades 7 and first semester of Grade 8
  • Current 8th Graders should be enrolled in NC Math 1 or NC Math 2

If you meet these criteria, you will be required to complete an on-campus written essay assessment, a group discussion, and/or personal interview.
