Draft:Sachin Munshi

  • Comment: Unclear that the subject meets WP:GNG or WP:NACADEMIC. A Google search suggests some prominence due to being the subject of a forthcoming film (though care is needed here, per WP:FUTURE), with much of the sourcing related to the film project (and the article creator - currently blocked for a username issue - has a clear conflict of interest, WP:COI). Sachin Munshi is an Indian-American mathematician, known for his academic contributions to linear algebra[1] and complex analysis.[2] He is an online adjunct professor of mathematics at Grand Canyon University. He suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). A biographical feature film about his life is planned to release in 2025.[3]

Early life and background[edit]

Aged five, Munshi was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration of the skeletal muscles that control movement. This gradually deteriorated his physical abilities and restricted his mobility. He used a wheelchair for mobility, relied on speech-to-text software to complete his coursework and sustained his breathing using a portable ventilator.[4]

Education[edit]

Munshi earned his BS and MA in Mathematics from the University at Albany, SUNY in 2009 and 2012, respectively. He received his PhD from the University at Albany in 2020 where his advisor was Rongwei Yang. His dissertation was about viewing Maxwell's equations of electromagnetism and Yang-Mills equations of Yang-Mills theory from the perspective of complex analysis and complex variable theory.[5] Munshi is currently working on a manuscript regarding Yang-Mills equations in the context of C*-algebras and complex differential forms.

Sach is Life[edit]

Sach is Life, a movie based on Munshi’s life, will be written and directed by Harsh Mahadeshwar.[6] Indian actors Kirti Kulhari[7] and Jim Sarbh will headline the movie. It narrates the story of his parents' determination to provide Munshi with a life that he deserves. The project is produced by Romila Saraf Bhat, Rahul Bhat and Red Bison Productions,[8] located in Princeton, New Jersey.

Personal life[edit]

Munshi resides in a suburb of Albany, New York with his father Upender Munshi,[9] a physician at Albany Medical Center, and his mother Daisy Munshi, a former high school biology teacher. He actively advocates for disability rights.
