Draft:Saco Municipal Landfill

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Saco Municipal Landfill was a Landfill and Superfund Site in Saco, Maine. One of the four sections of the landfill accepted tannery sludge, which consists of VOCs and other toxic materials, causing it to be placed on the EPA's national priorities list in 1990. From 1996 to 1998 the landfill was capped off and construction was completed in 2000. The landfill has not been deleted from the national priorities list.[1]

A transfer station is now operated by the city of Saco on the property.[2]
