Samuel Gaillard Stoney (August 29, 1891 - July 30, 1968) was a historian and preservationist in South Carolina. He wrote a collection of Gullah creation stories, a novel about miscegenation, and several books and articles about Charleston, South Carolina.[1]

He graduated from the College of Charleston and received an architecture degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.[1]

He married in 1933 to poet Frances Frost. They divorced.[1]

He was a lecturer at the College of Charleston from from 1949 to 1966.
