Scarus perrico is a parrotfish endemic to the eastern Pacific Ocean. While juveniles display a dark coloration, mature adults of both sexes display a light-blue green coloration lacking dichromatism. However, the species are dimorphic as males develop more prominent nuchal humps as they grow larger than females. Juveniles have two rows of teeth while adults have one, without any canines. Adults have five predorsal scales and five or less scales in each row of cheek scales. Irregular blue lines radiating from and around the eye distinguish this species from other parrotfishes in the eastern Pacific Ocean.^[1]
