Mizoguchi Ryo (Japanese: 溝口遼, March 9, 1995 – July 23, 2015[2]), better known as siinamota (椎名もた) or Powapowa-P (ぽわぽわP) was a Japanese lyricist, composer, and Vocaloid producer.[3]

Early life[edit]

siinamota grew up in Komatsu, Ishikawa. Influenced by his sister, he first started taking lessons for the Electone at the age of four. He joined the brass band after entering middle school, where he was bullied by older female students. He subsequently left the band and became interested in the Vocaloid voicebank Hatsune Miku for enabling him to create music alone.[4]

Career[edit]

siinamota published his first song on Niconico in 2009. In 2012 he released his debut album Yume no manimani (夢のまにまに) under the record label GINGA.[5] The following year he released the song "Young Girl A" (少女A) with vocals using Kagamine Rin, which went on to gain popularity on TikTok in 2023 and peaked at 8th place on the Billboard Japan Global Japan Songs excl. Japan.[6][7]

Death[edit]

siinamota died on July 23, 2015, shortly after he released his final song "Aka pen onegaishimasu" (赤ペンおねがいします). The cause of death is undisclosed. A private funeral was held, and a farewell party with live music was thrown according to the wishes of his bereaved family.[2][5]
