Siren City Pipe Band is a non-profit, volunteer organization comprised of a Grade 4 pipe band, Siren City Pipe Band, a Grade 5, City of Norfolk Pipe Band, and a music education program for young, beginner students of the bagpipes and snare drum. The organization is based in Norfolk, Virginia and the pipe bands compete in the United States wearing the Ancient Duncan tartan.[1]

Music Education[edit]

Siren City Pipe Band was granted IRC 501(c)(3) organization status on September 29, 2021 to begin its mission of providing the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with a scottish music education program for youth in its surrounding community and hosting competitive pipe band teams from graduates of the program. The education program is led by the Director of Youth Education Programs, Chaz Stuart.[2]

Siren City Pipe Band[edit]

The Siren City Pipe Band is a Grade 4 pipe band under the Siren City Pipe Band organization and is the highest graded pipe band in the organization. The pipe band is led by pipe major Liam Nunes, pipe sergeant Chaz Stuart, and lead drummer Andrew West. The pipe band achieved Grade 4 status in 2022 and is the highest graded pipe band in Virginia.

In 2023, Siren City Pipe Band won third place in the Grade 3 competition at the Virginia International Tattoo American Pipe Band Championship.

City of Norfolk Pipe Band[edit]

The City of Norfolk Pipe Band is a Grade 5 pipe band under the Siren City Pipe Band organization. The pipe band is comprised of bagpipe and snare drum graduates from Siren City Pipe Band's music education program. The pipe band leadership rotates to provide its young members with leadership opportunities.
