Draft:Social media without harm

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wikimedia Foundation should be able to do it (during 2024?).

1 line version:

"A social media platform where the information has been approved by the subject."

(Now that's what I call bias!)

(Not to be confused with the beautiful bias-cut dress that my wife wore to our daughter's wedding).

Social media that really helps society

One of the biggest problems faced by social media is that of how the messages are moderated. The pathetic attempts of social media to do this costs them billions of (mainly) dollars. In terms of moderation, Wikipedia has the right idea - moderation is by interested people. The result is the best encyclopedia the world has ever seen. In a social media message, the interested people are everybody mentioned in the message, so they should be the moderators (including if they are called by nicknames). Publication of messages should wait until everybody mentioned has approved. Obviously, this could be provided in parallel with "unmoderated at source" systems like the current social media systems. I think the positive feedback & quality of information provided by such a system would be about 10 times that of the current Facebook. It will also mean that users can read information approved by people they can trust. Unfortunately, the 5% of loonies will still be there. You may ask "how about the bad news about a person"? I am sure there are plenty of other sources of the bad news information - just read the red tops.

That's about it.

I would appreciate anybody's comments.
