Steven “Ice Buck” Powell was born in Gary, Indiana, and relocated to Atlanta in the mid-80s to pursue his music career. His songwriting ability comes naturally from being a relative of one of the most famous musical families. His first three albums were created with Alvin Spieghts at Bobby Brown and Whitney’s studio “Boss Town” (which is now Stankonia.) Steven “Ice Buck” Powell became one of Atlanta’s music pioneers as “M.C. Buck Pee” of the well-known group 1-5ive Posse. They released one of the first rap songs played on FM radio in Atlanta in 1989. “Ice Buck” went on to release music with Warner Records, Power Records, and Ichiban Records while writing all of his music and for many others.

There are many notable highlights as both M.C. Buck Pee and Steven “Ice Buck” Powell such as writing and coproduction on Tito Jackson’s “Under Your Spell” album and opening for Prince’s “Purple Madness Tour” featuring Bobby Miller. He has also worked with industry greats such as The Jacksons, Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill, Nellie Tiger Travis, Keith Sweat, Mary J Blige, Too Short & The Dangerous Crew, Stevie Wonder, Pattie Label, After 7, MC Hammer, Eddie Lavert, Bobby Rush, Run DMC, Public Enemy, NWA, Alexander Oniel, Sharrell, Pebo Bryson, Sir Charles Jones, Nellie Tiger Travis, King George, Pokie Bear, TK Soul, Master P, DJ Wis, DJ Curt, Riley K, Keith Jackson, DJ Trucker, Steve Arrington of the group Slave, Calvin Richardson, The Whispers, and a host of others.

Awards and nominations over the years include “The Hip Hop Pioneer Award” in Atlanta, Georgia, “Best Collaboration for Southern Soul/Blues” with Nellie “Tiger” Travis for “Back That Country Thang On Me”, and the “Original Pioneer Award for Hip Hop and R&B” in Indiana. “Ice Buck” has also filmed promotional content for Dinahlynn Biggs of Biggs Radio including promotional drops for Power 93 in Chicago, 107.9, and V103 in Atlanta.

Ice Buck Productions (IBP Productions) was formed to provide management, music services, and opportunities for unsigned artists to perform with major artists. Ice Buck Productions also managed, wrote, and provided booking for the groups The Pow Boyz and Family Ties. While working touring with music industry legends, philanthropy is always at the top of the list by hosting many charitable events for the community.

His latest Southern Soul EP project titled “I’m Soul Cold” showcases his advanced lyrical composition with the hits “Cheating on Us”, “Party”, and “Back That Country Thang On Me” featuring Nellie “Tiger” Travis. Steven “Ice Buck” Powell has taken on the name of the “Southern Soul Party Man” with much more to highlight.
