Suhas Vyas[edit]
Suhas was born on October 26, 1949 in Osmanabad, Maharashtra, is an Indian Classical Vocalist.[1] He is the eldest Son and senior most disciple of Padmabhushan Pandit C R Vyas .[2] He is a top grade artist of All India Radio.
Performances[edit]
Suhas has performed across India, and the globe.[3] In India, he has performed at all prestigious music festivals like Sawai Gandharva[4], Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Sangeet Samaroh, Gunidas Sangeet Sammelan, Tansen Sangeet Sammelan, Gwalior, Saptak in Ahmedabad, Pandit Vishnu Digambar Samaroha, Delhi.[5] Internationally, he has performed extensively in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Germany. He represented Indian Classical Music at the BRICS Summit held in Xiamen in China in 2017.[6] Suhas conceptualised, presented and led a specially curated musical piece called ‘Swatantraya Gaan’ (Song of Independence) in front of an esteemed guest list of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri among many other dignitaries on the occasion of inauguration of Kartavya Path and unveiling of Subhash Chandra Bose’s statue in New Delhi, on 8th September 2022. The composition was composed by the legendary Pt.Shrikrishna Narayan Ratanjankar ji on 15th August 1947 and was a lost gem, till Suhas deemed it right to bring it forth again in the 75th year of Indian Independence.[7] Along with being a regular performances, Suhas has worked extensively in archival of traditional compositions as well as reviving some old musical documentation. He launched second edition book Raag Sarita, a compilation of his father’s compositions.[8] He has also given music direction to a musical in Marathi language called Sangeet Mrigranjani.
Legacy[edit]
Suhas follows the Agra and Gwalior Gharana. He has a major influence of Pandit Jagnannath Bua Purohit also known as Gunidas. Suhas now is creating his own legacy by nurturing young talents in & out of India.
