Swans of maternity is a lyrical poem of Vasyl Symonenko. Vasyl Symonenko achieved State prize of Ukraine in the name of T. G. Shevchenko. Music is written by a composer Andrij Pashkevich.
Topic[edit]
In the poem is illustrated love to the child and awareness of its fate, love to the Fatherland. The main thinking sounds as following: «You can choose everything on the world, son / But you can't choose your own Fatherland». The own home is represented by the poem, which is filled with «maternal good grace». Maternal graciousness, as V. Symonenko thinks — is a possibility to understand love, friendship, family happiness. The choice depends from the human itself. In life there are uneditable things that are worth something. A big sin to renounce thematherland. A big sin to renounce them.
Arrangement[edit]
The poem itself is separated in two parts. The first one tells mostly about maternal care for her child, whereas the second one includes the problems, which her child will have as an adult.
This trochee sounds like a lullaby because of the overwhelming mother that worries about her son. Compositionally, the motives change: first sounds the motive of a fairy-tale wonderland, then it is replaced by the motive of maternal care and tenderness, paternal guardianship. Cloudless childhood depends on them, which is impossible to imagine without a fairy tale, a lullaby and a riddle. In the spiritual world of Ukrainians, they play an important educational role. The native house is filled with "motherly kindness", the magical dance of swans and the dull eyes of a fairy tale.
