Sydney Willits is an American track and field athlete. She is the NCAA Indoor champion in the long jump.[1]

Early life[edit]

From Glenview, Illinois, she attended Glenbrook High School. The oldest of five children, and a junior gymnast, Willits committed to Iowa State University in October 2020, the third generation of her family to attend after her grandfather Francis Long, and both her parents, Christa and Ryan Willits.[2]

Career[edit]

Competing for Iowa State University in March 2024, Willits won the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Massachusetts long jump title with a personal best jump of 6.74 metres.[3] In doing so, she became the first long jump national champion in Iowa State's history and set a new school record in the discipline.[4][5]
