Chee Wei Tay, also known as Tay Chee Wei in Asia, born 10 April, 1976) is a musician and film score composer based in Australia and Singapore.
His early works are notable for blending Asian ethnic instruments with traditional orchestral arrangements and electronic music. Chee Wei has won a number of awards including Best Original Score (runner up) for Emperor of the Seas - The Voyages of Zheng He at the 2006 Asian Television Awards, COMPASS - Top Soundtrack award for NOVA - Ocean Animal Emergency, Young Composer of the year award and Overseas Achievement Awards
His notable works include Emperor of the Seas - The Voyages of Zheng He, NOVA - Black Hole Apocalypse, NOVA - Decoding the Weather Machine, NOVA - Looking for Life on Mars, Zero Calling (Series), NGC's Route Awakening (series) and HBO Asia's Grisse. He was also appointed music director and composer for the Singapore Pavilion at the 2005 World Expo - Aichi, Japan.
Chee Wei spent the early part of his career in Singapore before moving to Melbourne, Australia where he currently resides.
