"The Ballad Of Camooweal" or "Camooweal" is an Australian country music song written by Alexander Cormack and recorded by Slim Dusty. It has been covered by several other artists including Lee Kernaghan, Johnny Chester and Ed Kuepper with Felicity Urqhart and many more. And is popular as an instrumental amongst Australian Country artists.[1]

About the song[edit]

The ballad was written by Alexander Cormack during one of Slim Dusty's Australian tours in the early 70s or late 60s. Officially released in June 1971.[2] And has been performed live many times since.[3][4][5][6]

Content[edit]

Written about a Queensland town called Camooweal. The songs mentions a love lost in the town and that the teller won't be young on their return but reminisces what was there.[7]
