The Crate depression was a Incident that occurred in July 25th 2019. In the game Team Fortress 2 the incident occurred due to a patch that made certain crates always unbox "unusual" rarity items which are the rarest affected were series 85, 83 82 and crate numbers 1-25. Groups of players used this to exploit said crates for personal gains it lasted for 24 hours until Valve fixed the exploit

The beginning of the crisis[edit]

On July 25th of 2019 In a maintenance patch was released for Team Fortress 2 however the patch had an exploit which allowed for people to get 100% unusual drops on certain crates. People exploited this and they would always obtain unusual items, the rarest in the Team fortress economy many players abused this to get many unusual crates ,the rarest items in the team fortress economy For 24 hours many crates were opened and the value of the glitched crates went up while the hats themselves went down Eventually later that day a patch was released that restored the crates to not always drop

The aftermath[edit]

After the patch restored the crate's drops the players who exploited it had their glitched unusuals marked untradeable many players did not participate in the event due to hope of compensation but they never did
