"The Day The World Blows Up" is a song by American singer-songwriter Lauren Jauregui.[1] Written by the performer and by Mattius, MoneyJezus and Stan Greene, the song was released on all digital platforms on January 29, 2024. The song brings a message about the current state of the world.
Background[edit]
The song was first released on December 22, 2023 on the EVEN platform - a music platform for independent artists. The singer reported that a portion of the profits generated from the sale of the song would be donated to MECA (Middle East Children's Alliance) in support of Palestinian children, and to FAH (Food Against Hunger) which provides financial assistance to Sudanese families in Egypt. According to Jauregui, the song honors those with the strength, tenacity and heart to imagine, pray and fight for a better world in the midst of chaos.[2]
Information[edit]
Lauren has always been known for her authenticity and involvement in social causes, revealing in “The Day the World Blows Up” her perspective on society's priorities. In October 2023, Jauregui took a stance on his social media regarding the conflict between Israel and Hamas, stressing that they are just a bunch of terrorists shouting terrorist, in addition to highlighting that people should learn the history of a situation before feeling in right to give her voice.[3]
With deep and engaging lyrics, the artist expresses her hope that the song will serve as a greater awareness of the current state of the world: "My heart aches for Palestine and its children and for the innocent Israelis caught in the crossfire of their government genocidal".[4]
On January 31, 2024, the singer released a music video for the song. Completely in black and white, the clip shows Jauregui in the middle of nature, as he watches the wind blow the leaves of the trees and the flowers sway, as well as showing excerpts from war videos, where people are rescued from the rubble and a mother dances with her son in his arms, showing that despite all the suffering that the conflict brought, there is still hope.
