The Escape is an upcoming four-part television series based on the kidnap of Princess Latifa of Dubai, her escape, recapture, imprisonment and eventual release. It is to be written by Lindsay Shapero with production set to begin in early 2024.
Synopsis[edit]
The Dubai ruler, Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum’s daughter Princess Latifa was helped to leave the country by her friend Tiinia Jauhiainen in 2018 on a rigid inflatable boat, only for both women to be forcibly returned and interrogated. In 2020, a London high court judge, Sir Andrew McFarlane, accepted as proven allegations made by Princess Haya, the sheikh’s former wife, that the sheikh ordered Latifa’s abduction.[1]
Production[edit]
Shapero when writing the script worked closely with Tiina Jauhiainen on the project. The series is developed by Yellow Film & TV, with producers Jackie Larkin and Olli Haikka. Executive producers will be Jackie Larkin and Olli Haikka.[2]
