History
The Fragrance Shop was founded in 1994 by Sanjay Vadera[1]. Starting from a single location it then expanded to over 216 stores in the UK usually located next to its competitors it became a prominent fixture on the UK high street. The Fragrance Shop then created a new head office in Trafford park, Manchester[2]. Later opening their new flagship store on Oxford Street, London[3]. The fragrance Shop is now a mid sized company in the United Kingdom employing between 1,001 - 5,000 with an overall employee score of 2.9/5 on Glassdoor.[4]
Retail Locations
With 216 locations across the UK[5], The Fragrance Shop has established a strong presence in the beauty/fragrance market. The Oxford Street flagship store also introduced the EveryHuman technology to the brand.[6] The EveryHuman algorithmic perfumery stands as the pioneering AI-guided scent creation platform, offering a unique exploration into the realm of fragrances.[7]
Online Presence
Recognizing the importance of e-commerce in today's retail landscape, The Fragrance Shop maintains a robust online presence, allowing customers to browse and purchase products from the comfort of their homes. This helped them see record profits in December 2023 as revenue jumper up by 6.5%.[8]
Other companies within the space are also moving more towards the online market especially with the recent event surrounding The Body Shop who have closed some of its retail location in order to focus more on its online presence. [9]
