The Geechee Witch: A Boo Hag Story is a 2024 American thriller and horror film directed by Jeremiah Kipp ("Slapface") and written by Jason Walter Short, J. Craig Gordon and Phoenix Higgins.

Stars of the film include Lance E. Nichols ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "House of Cards"), Basil Wallace, Sinclair Daniel, Tryphena Wade, Stephen Cofield Jr., contortionist Nikelola Balogun as Boo-Hag and Ernestine Johnson-Morrison.

The Geechee Witch: A Boo Hag Story  will premiere in February 2024.

Premise[edit]

After her mother-in-law is mysteriously killed, Leah and her husband relocate from Harlem to his family's estate in coastal Georgia. Out of her element, she grows increasingly convinced someone in the low country has put the "root" on her. Leah's fears are realized when she discovers a Boo Hag has been unleashed on her family. Disguised in the skin of past victims, the witch is determined to take Leah's husband - and her life.

Production[edit]

The Geechee Witch: A Boo Hag Story is executive produced by former Georgia House of Representatives Member J. Craig Gordon and TV and film producer Phoenix Higgins, with TV executive Ti-Shea Meadows as associate produce and Jason Walter Short as producer.

Fully funded by Gordon and Higgins, through their company Fairfax Pictures, the film pays homage to Gullah/Geechee folklore and history.

The score was composed by Arindam Jurakhan.

Dominick Sivilli serves as cinematographer.

Early reception[edit]

According to Sheen Magazine, it "invites viewers into a world where supernatural terror and cultural exploration intersect"[1].
