The Plastic Cherries are a psychedelic rock band from Salt Lake City, Utah.
The band began as a home recording project between couple Shelby & Joseph Maddock (vocals & guitar), making songs on old tape machines “inspired by glam, soft rock, shoegaze, Elliott Smith, and their dog”. These homemade songs became their first album, “Sunshine”, which was released on LP & cassette on local label Uphere! Records.
Joined by Stephen Cox (bass), Wayne Burdick (drums), and Natalie Hamilton (keyboards), the band began performing in the Salt Lake area with periodic tours of the western U.S.
They have shared festival stages with Pixies, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Blonde Redhead. Their second album, “The Plastic Cherries On The Moon,” has been announced for 2024 release.
