The Zahra Charitable Foundation in English (The Zahra Trust) is an international humanitarian, non-profit charitable institution concerned with providing humanitarian and charitable services to all marginalized groups, including orphans, widows, the poor, and needy families. Its permanent headquarters are in Najaf, Iraq and is registered in London, United Kingdom. It was founded by the cleric Sheikh Ali Al-Masoumi in 2008, and he now acts as its Secretary General[1]. The Trust is comprised of executive directors, board members, employees, and volunteers amounting to approximately 600 people. It has multiple registered field branches and partners spread across 16 countries.[2][3] The Trust relies solely on donations from benefactors for its funding [4]. The Trust offers a range of support to beneficiaries in the form of charity, emergency relief [5][6][7], food aid [8], medical aid, educational support[9], sustainable development programs, water and sanitation services, and support for orphans, widows, and the vulnerable. The total spending for 2023 was approximately £6 million. The Trust gained special consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2017.[10]
