Draft:The economic Viability of Private SST

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The future of supersonic transport is certainly an interesting one even though companies and countries have tried and failed in the past to make supersonic transport viable in an economic fashion. There have been many developments over the past 3 decades. Now most aeronautics professors and engineers have access to new technology like better materials, a superior understanding of plain aerodynamics and an improved way to get past the basic environmental concerns that supersonic transport once possessed. With such new information there has been a rise in the number of companies trying to make supersonic flight a reality once again soon companies like boom have been working on certain types of improvements on the old concord design, they have access to better materials that decrease the noise pollution created by Sonic booms which may open new routes which were previously banned. Supersonic transport was primarily banned by most governments because of the Sonic boom it created and hence planes like the concord could only operate on routes like Paris to New York and London to New York and vice versa. In the future these trade routes are likely to expand 2 every hub in the world since Sonic boom damping technology[1] has been heavily researched and adopted in military planes this increases the market for supersonic transport and with new engines and better fuels it is even possible two increase range spear and fuel efficiency which makes a fleet of supersonic aircrafts a viable option for all airlines. All these developments have completely changed they parameters of supersonic transport and has expanded its horizons beyond human imagination three decades ago now with corporations valuing the time of employees being higher than ever there is a huge private market as well where companies might decide to transport higher value employees using such planes to save company money and time. Let's observe this as a close example. In this case I'll be taking the example of the multi-national conglomerate Walmart with more than 4000 stores in the US and counting Walmart’s travel programs takes employees to the nooks and crannies of the United states which might not be serviced by commercial airlines or airports in that case the only reliable source of transportation which can ensure urgency and can deliver in a sound time frame is private aviation so Walmart operates 22 jets within the United states to take its high level VPS and teacher managers across to all stores that they're supposed to go through to right now they are at subsonic private aviation which is still about 80 to 90% faster than commercial aviation let's see how that calculation works let's take a Walmart employee who has to travel from the Midwest to the Rocky Mountains and then to a place like Seattle flying commercial takes about 2 1/2 to three days to make the entire trip in back to Walmart headquarters when you do that in a private jet you can cut that time down two about 17 hours however if you add the benefits of supersonic private transport then the entire flying time between three cities and back would be less than an hour and a half plus whatever time it takes for the employee to conduct the reports it's therefore no this wouldn't be economically viable back in the 60s and the 70s during the development of the first generation of supersonic carriers but with cost cutting methods in place nowadays it could be quite viable for high level executive from a company like Walmart to make a such a trip in private supersonic transport the transport model makes even more sense if you look at international firms that have to conduct business across three continents supersonic transport code card flying time in half therefore saving companies copious amounts of money and its employees and unimaginable amount of time. If you consider flying from Singapore to New York one of the busiest business-oriented routes long haul routes in the world then supersonic planes make even more sense because it can make the 18-hour journey into something that takes less than 8 hours which as a business traveler is something most companies and high net worth individuals might consider. Now keep in mind all the aforementioned numbers have been calculated with a plane going Mach 3 which right now seems to be a possibility of the distant future.
