Theresa Keilhacker (* 1964 in Oxford) is a German architect and President of the Berlin Chamber of Architects.

Biography[edit]

Theresa Keilhacker began her career as an architect by studying architecture and interior design at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences, graduating in 1990. She followed this up in 1996 with a Master's degree at the University of Sydney, which she also successfully completed. Before and after this, she worked in various architecture firms in Sydney, Düsseldorf and Berlin. In Berlin, where she finally settled as a freelance architect in 1998, Keilhacker chaired the Sustainable Building Committee of the local Chamber of Architects from 2005 to 2013 and subsequently held the office of Vice President from 2013 to April 2017[1][2]. In 2014, she was appointed to the Commission for Sustainable Building (KNBAU)[3][4] of the Federal Environment Agency and was also elected President of the Chamber of Architects in Berlin in 2021.[5][6] She has held a seat on the Berlin Climate Protection Council since 2022.[7][8] Central themes of her work are the promotion of ecological and social sustainability in the construction industry[9] and the preservation of the architectural heritage of the post-war period[10].
