List of episodes

Thomas & Gordon (retitled Thomas Gets Tricked in the United States) is the first episode of Thomas & Friends. It is based on the first story of the same name from the 1946 Railway Series book "Thomas the Tank Engine". It was first aired on ITV in the United Kingdom on October 9, 1984, following the premiere of the series.

Plot[edit]

A blue 0-6-0T engine named Thomas works at Knapford Station on the Island of Sodor as a station pilot; he prepares trains for the big tender engines to take on long journeys. Thomas teases Gordon, one of the tender engines, for being lazy, which prompts him to pay Thomas back.

Thomas arrives late to the station the next morning, as he struggles to wake up. When he arrives, Thomas couples the express coaches up to Gordon, who asks his passengers to get on board quickly. Gordon starts so hurryingly that Thomas has no time to be uncoupled, and is stuck at the back of the train being forced to go at a high speed. When Gordon eventually stops at a station, Thomas is left out of breath and regrets his past actions.

Production[edit]

The episode, along with the rest of the first series, were filmed in 1983 at Clearwater Studios in Surrey, England.
