Thomas S. Gathright (January 5, 1829 - May 24, 1880) was an educator, state education official in Mississippi, and a college president in Texas.[1]

He wrote a letter to the governor in 1862 seeking an exemption to service in the Confederate Army.[2]

He was Superintendent of Education in Mississippi[3] in 1876.
