History[edit]

Not much history is known publicly about Trans-Care due to it's private status as an ambulance company however, there is some information provided by the company itself on its public website at: https://www.trans-care.com/. There you will find much of the information available about Trans-Care. There is some additional information about it's 911 capacity through news articles, and a video regarding it's lawsuit with Vigo County, Indiana.[1][5] See controversies section for more information. According to Trans-Care's website & public documents Trans-Care's history in chronological order is as follows:

1992 to 2000[edit]

Trans-Care opened for operation in 1992 because of the perceived shortage of ambulance providing services in West Central, Indiana. Trans-Care then acquired an unnamed ambulance competitor. [3] Trans-Care then quickly expanded it's area of operation across the state of Indiana.

2013[edit]

Trans-Care through "Ambulance Management Services Ltd." entered into a six year contract with Vigo County, IN to provide 911 ALS and BLS services to Vigo County on January 1st, 2013.[1]

2016[edit]

Trans-Care Ambulance sues Vigo County, IN for "cherry picking" what calls for service that the County 911 call system dispatches to the company. Another issue that came to light was that Vigo County Government had entered into a written contracted agreement that Trans-Care would provide sole Ambulance services to Vigo County.[6] Several townships namely Riley, Sugar Creek and Honey Creek in Vigo County had allowed Riley Volunteer Fire Department[7] ambulance services first dispatching which proved to be a conflict of interest.[1] [5] Resolution to this conflict was reached through litigation. The agreement still stands that Trans-Care provides first priority EMS 911 capability in Vigo County, IN, while Riley Volunteer Fire Department ambulances would be first priority in it's agreed township(s) area.

2019[edit]

Trans-Care reaches a contract agreement with Franciscan Health, Indianapolis & Mooresville for all ambulance transports.[8] This service started on June, 23rd 2019.

2023[edit]

Trans-Care Ambulance enters the Louisville, Kentucky market with it's agreement for contracted services with the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Namely the Robley Rex Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
