Triad God aslo known as Vinh Soi Ngan is a rapper from New Cross, London. Born of Chinese and Vietnamese descent[1], his experimental style combines elements of cloud rap, ambience, and monotone spoken word; delivered in English and Cantonese. An enigmatic character, not much is known about him at all. He has released two studio albums, NXB (2012), and Triad (2019).

History and Career[edit]

Triad God was born in London and his family hails from Hong Kong. His artist name is in reference to Chinese Triads, a group of organized crime originating in Hong Kong. For Vinh, growing up in South London meant being out on the street with his friends, living the gang life. He and his friends formed the gang NXB, or New Cross Boys, a Chinese-Viet gang. According to his interview with Edison Chen, Vinh was expelled from school at 15 for beating someone with a pole.[2]

Vinh went to prison for an unspecified amount of time and was out when he was 23 years old. After coming out of prison he met Palmistry (Benjy Keating) who was working at the rehabilitation centre Vinh was sent to. The two became friends and Keating produced the first Triad God mixtape "NXB" under the innovative label Hippos in Tanks.

After Hippos in Tanks went defunct, Vinh signed under Lorenzo Senni's record label, Presto!?. In 2019, Vinh released his second album under this label, Triad, in 2019; once again being produced by Palmistry.[3]

Ever since, Vinh has not released music independantly nor has he had any prescence on social media.
