V V Ramana Murthy (born June 15, 1960) is an Indian journalist and editor of the Telugu newspaper "LEADER" from Visakhapatnam. He has been in the field of journalism for over three decades and is known for his adventurous and investigative reporting.

Early Life and Education[edit]

  • Born: June 15, 1960, Anakapalle, Visakhapatnam District
  • Educational Qualification: BA (Social Work) from AMAL College, Anakapalle, and BL from MVP Law College, Visakhapatnam

Career in Journalism[edit]

  • 1979–1983: News Correspondent for Andhra Jyothi Telugu daily newspaper from Anakapalle
  • 1983–1992: Promoted from part-time reporter to Bureau Chief of 'Udhayam' Telugu daily newspaper at Hyderabad with political reporting
  • Interviewed People's War Group leader Kondapalli Seetharamaiah spending two months in the forest
  • Also interviewed the then underground PWG National President Ganapathi and State President, Nalla Adireddy
  • Received Best Journalist Award from the then Andhra Pradesh Governor Her Excellency Dr Kumud Ben Joushi
  • Exposed serious investigation conducting on virginity tests in King George Hospital (KGH), Visakhapatnam, which led to correction of procedure for medical test
  • 1992–1994: Apart from being Bureau Chief of Andhra Jyothi, Visakhapatnam, also undertook special assignment for BBC during general elections
  • 1994: Worked as Bureau Chief at Vaartha Telugu daily, Visakhapatnam. Unearthed the sensational Rs.100 crore Yeluru scam involving the Judiciary, saving hundreds of crore of public money
  • 1998: Founded 'LEADER' Telugu evening daily in Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry, presently rated No:1 among all small newspapers in the State providing direct employment to 20 nos. and indirect employment for about 200 nos.

Social Services and Cultural Programs[edit]

  • 2007: Initiated 'Leader People's Service' in where, more than 500 nos. women were provided with tailoring skills
  • At present, they have a target of 5,000 women to be given training in various vocational courses
  • 2010 -2023: Started 'Writer's Academy' with 100 members from all over Andhra Pradesh with the aim of promoting Indian culture and tradition
  • Conducted several social and cultural activities
