The Victor Chang Foundation (VCF) is a non-profit charity created in 1984 by Dr Victor Chang[1] AC to award grants to surgeons in Australia and Asia.

Under the leadership of CEO Vanessa Chang,[2] the Foundation carries on Victor Chang's legacy and his focus on education and innovation in cardiothoracic surgery, both in Australia and around Asia.[3] Vanessa Chang has stated that her father’s greatest conviction was that true success comes from sharing knowledge.[4]

Values:[edit]

The Victor Chang Foundation provides grants in the following areas:

  • Education: educating surgeons from Australia and around Asia in cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery and heart-lung surgery.
  • Innovation: innovating new technologies and devices in the field of cardiothoracic surgery, with a focus on heart transplantations and heart valves.[5]
