Vijay Nirani (born 15 July 1993) is an Indian entrepreneur and business executive, currently serving as managing director of TruAlt Bioenergy Limited,[1] a biofuels and bioenergy company in Asia. With a background in accounting, finance, and global family-managed business, Nirani's work in the Indian bioenergy sector has included the establishment of the country's first and largest ethanol plant and the transformation of sugar mills into bioenergy parks.[2][3]

Early life[edit]

Vijay Nirani was born on 15 July 1993 in Mudhol, a small agricultural town in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, India. Growing up in an environment deeply rooted in the sugarcane industry and farming, Nirani developed a keen interest in business and finance from a young age.[4] For his schooling, he attended Jain International Residential School in Bangalore, where he completed his education up to the 12th grade.[5][6]

Family[edit]

Viyay Nirani's father is Dr. Murugesh R Nirani, former Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries and Minister for Mines and Geology in the Government of Karnataka, as well as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Bilgi constituency.[7] Viyay's mother, Smt. Kamala Nirani, manages the educational institutions associated with their family group[8]. Vijay Nirani's extended family also includes his uncle, Shri. Hanamant Nirani, who has been a Member of the Legislative Council in Karnataka, representing North Karnataka.[9] Vijay Nirani is married to Susmitha Vijay Nirani, and they have two sons, Samarth and Veer Nirani.

Career[edit]

Vijay Nirani heads TruAlt Bioenergy a biofuel company with a production capacity close to 2,000 kilo litres per day.[10]

Nirani has diversified the operations of traditional sugar mills into bioenergy parks. This utilizes excess sugarcane and helps in the production of sustainable energy under the TruAlt Bioenergy name. This initiative helped them set up 2G ethanol plants in Karnataka.[11][12]
