Yonatan Francisco Romero Cruz Yonatan Francisco Romero Cruz (born February 17, 1997) is a Salvadoran-born Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and mixed martial arts (MMA) amateur fighter based in Reykjavik, Iceland. He is known for his grappling skills, dedication to martial arts, and his diverse range of interests and aspirations.
Early Life and Education Born in El Salvador, Yonatan moved to Iceland in 2010 at the age of 13. He attended Ha´teigskóli from ages 10 to 16, where he first developed a passion for culinary arts. He then went on to Borgarholtskóli for his high school education.
Culinary Career Pursuing his passion for cooking, Cruz became a trained chef and worked his way up to the position of head chef at Héðinn Kitchen and Bar in Reykjavik. His skills in the kitchen are well-respected in the local community.
Martial Arts Career Cruz started his training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2017 at Reykjavik MMA. His dedication and talent quickly earned him the rank of blue belt. In 2023, he became the Icelandic Champion in BJJ, a significant achievement in his martial arts career.
