Ysmael Baysa, a prominent figure in the corporate world, renowned for his extensive experience as the former chief financial officer (CFO) of Jollibee Foods Corp., a leading fast-food giant based in the Philippines, has recently emerged from retirement to embrace a new role as the chief operating officer (COO) of the conglomerate owned by the Gotianun family.

His transition back into the corporate scene was announced by Filinvest Development Corp. on Wednesday, signifying a crucial move for the conglomerate as it prepares for long-term growth and expansion. Josephine Gotianun Yap, the president and CEO of Filinvest Development Corp., expressed confidence in Baysa's leadership abilities, emphasizing their importance in steering strategic investments and ensuring operational excellence across the conglomerate's diverse portfolio.

Baysa's career in accounting and finance spans decades, with his most notable tenure being the 20 years he spent as CFO of Jollibee. During his time with Jollibee, which began in 2003, Baysa played a pivotal role in expanding the company's brand portfolio. His retirement from Jollibee was announced last year, marking the end of an era.

Prior to his stint at Jollibee, Baysa spent 23 years at Procter & Gamble, holding various local and regional positions. He later served as CFO at Union Bank of the Philippines from 2001 to 2003.[1]

Additionally, he held positions as Senior Vice-President and Chief Finance Officer for Philippine Airlines and Air Philippines Express, as well as First Vice-President and Chief Finance Officer of Metrobank Card Corporation. He also contributed his expertise in financial control to the Global Consumer Bank of Citibank, N.A. - Philippines.[2]

Baysa's educational background includes graduating with an accounting degree in 1976 from Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (formerly Luzonian University) in Lucena, Quezon.[3]
