Elkhorn is an upcoming American television drama series, chronicling the early life of Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States. Roosevelt became a cowboy and rancher in the American Frontier in his mid-20s, before returning east to become the country's youngest President.[1]
The first season of Elkhorn is set to air on INSP in April 2024.[2][3]
Premise[edit]
Theodore Roosevelt, born into a wealthy New York family, traveled West to hunt bison following the death of both his wife and mother. His love for the American Frontier was well documented, but rarely covered.[4] The dramatized series follows Roosevelt's life in the Dakota Territory, and the establishment of Elkhorn Ranch.[5]
The series tells the story of how he became known as "The Cowboy President." It follows the day-to-day trials and tribulations of Roosevelt as he encounters thieves, hired guns, native wildlife such as Grizzly bears, and the need for law and order in the Bad Lands.[5]
Release[edit]
Filming for the first season of Elkhorn was announced in 2023.[6] The first episode is set to air April 11, 2024, on INSP.[7][3]
