Fayza Kamal (December 31, 1960 - May 26, 2014) was an Egyptian actress.[1]

Early life[edit]

She was born in Kuwait to Egyptian parents working there, and lived there for over twenty years, completing her elementary, middle, and high school education in its schools. She also joined the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, majoring in both set design as her first choice and acting as her second. She succeeded in both majors. Her parents insisted she join the set design department, refusing to allow their daughter to study acting. However, her professor, the artist Saad Ardesh, managed to convince them, and she apprenticed under him.[2]

She began her artistic career while still in her first year at the institute. She participated in a historical series titled "Al Adl wal Tafah" alongside Madiha Kamel and Abdullah Ghaith. Her artistic journey continued with various roles offered to her by directors. She worked with director Sami Mohamed Ali in the series "Watah Al Tareeq" and appeared in the film "The Lost Plane." Eventually, she decided to return to Egypt to commence her artistic career in the 1980s, spanning over thirty continuous years until her illness and subsequent passing in 2014.

Death[edit]

She suffered from a health crisis and was subsequently transferred to the Intensive Care Unit at Al-Qasr Al-Aini Hospital. After undergoing several tests and scans, it was revealed that she had uterine cancer, not liver cancer as was rumoured. She passed away on May 26, 2014.[3]
